Book Blurb: What if Mr. Darcy’s proposal was too late?
Darcy has been bewitched by Elizabeth Bennet since he met her in Hertfordshire. He can no longer fight this overwhelming attraction and must admit he is hopelessly in love.
During Elizabeth’s visit to Kent she has been forced to endure the company of the difficult and disapproving Mr. Darcy, but she has enjoyed making the acquaintance of his affable cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam.
Finally resolved, Darcy arrives at Hunsford Parsonage prepared to propose—only to discover that Elizabeth has just accepted a proposal from the Colonel, Darcy’s dearest friend in the world.
As he watches the couple prepare for a lifetime together, Darcy vows never to speak of what is in his heart. Elizabeth has reason to dislike Darcy, but finds that he haunts her thoughts and stirs her emotions in strange ways.
Can Darcy and Elizabeth find their happily ever after?

The Review: This book starts off with Darcy being too late to propose to Elizabeth as Richard has beaten him to the punch. This sets off a chain of events with the wedding being delayed for over a year, Darcy leaving with Georgiana for America to visit with family, and finally ending with Richard getting injured days before the wedding and dying from the infection. I did wonder how Darcy and Lizzy would get together if she married Richard. He died before the book was even a third of the way over. The problem about Richard was solved. lol. The rest of the book has Darcy and Elizabeth keep coming into contact with each other, with Lizzy eventually falling in love with him even though she doesn't realize it til almost the end of the book.
Just like with Ms. Kincaid's first book I couldn't put this one down. This was very easily for me a winner. I can foresee this author quickly becoming on of my favorite JAFF artists to turn to. If you loved The Secrets of Darcy and Elizabeth you'll definitely love this book.
Rating: ★★★★★

Shared and tweeted! No need to enter me in the giveaway as I was privileged to be one of Victoria's beta readers. You will need paper hankies for this one but you'll love the story.
ReplyDeleteIt was just as good as The Secrets of Darcy and Elizabeth. I finished Pride and Proposals in less than 12 hours. I couldn't read straight through as real life gets in the way sometimes.
DeleteThank you Anji and Tina for your kind words! It really means something to me when readers are touched by what I have written :) - Victoria
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I really do love the book. Thank you for the opportunity to be able to read it so soon. I know that I will probably go and re-read it several times in the future.
DeleteI was one of the first to post a review on Amazon and Goodreads as I could not put this book down....many tissues later!
ReplyDeleteI loved it as well. I had it in my amazon wishlist because at that time I couldn't afford it. I was pleasantly surprised when I got an email with a copy of the book asking if I would read and review it. I don't regret accepting. I love this book.
DeleteThank you, Sheila! You wrote a terrific review -- much appreciated.
DeleteHello all. I posted previously but I don't see it here so pardon me if you see it twice. Out of all the million things I am looking forward to,I would say I am look forward to the most is how it all plays out. Will Mr. Darcy get the girl (as he always does)? I've only read 2 or 3 JAFF where the Col.proposed to Lizzy. In 2 of them the marry and Col. Fitizwilliam dies. I love Ms. Kincaid's work and look forward to reading more from her.
ReplyDeleteThank you Taneshia, for saying such nice things about my writing. It's great to know I can touch readers' lives in the way that other authors have touched mine.
DeleteOOh now this will be intersting. I love finding another twist i the story. i cannot wait. Thank you for the chance at the giveaway. louannlajeunesseatgmail.com

Ordinarily, I would say that I look forward to seeing how D&E end up together, but you explained that in the review! ;-p I suppose, though, that D won't know how it comes about, so the angst should be fun. GinnaSaisQuoi at verizon dot net
ReplyDeleteThis sounds quite interesting. Should be a good read.

This story looks amazing!!I would love to win a copy!! Reading JAFF is my escape into a world without pain--it definitely keeps me sane! :) I'm going to look into more of Victoria Kincaid's books--they look *wonderful*!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a new spin! Colonel Fitzwilliam is one of my favorite characters but I have never expected him to beat out Darcy for Elizabeth. This should be very interesting! Thank you for the review. Thank you for the giveaway.

This book has such a twist. I am looking forward to reading it. As I already have the ebook please do not enter me in the give away.
ReplyDeletePlease don't enter me as it was a physical and emotional impossibility for me not to "buy with one click" the second it was available. It lived up to its promise and I can't recommend it high enough. If you love our Pride and Prejudice men (Darcy and the Colonel - NOT Collins and Wickham), you will love this book.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any with the scenario before so I am very interested. Glad it was good!

Oh dear, there is going to be so much angst in this story! Poor Darcy, I hope he doesn't go through too much hardship watching Elizabeth and the Colonel together knowing he was only slightly too late! Looking forward to reading it. brendapwood at gmail dot com
