REVIEW: My Pride, His Prejudice by Jenni James

Book one of Austen In Love

Book Blurb:
When Will Darcy proposes out of the blue, Eliza Bennet's world comes crashing down. Of course she tells him no, but why would he ask her in the first place? Haven’t they always been enemies? For the past year, Eliza has worked for Will's company, Revolutionary Innovations, as an efficiency expert. Her whole goal has been to raise profits, finish her contract, and then get out. She assumed Will wanted the same, but now she's not so sure. And more importantly, she has begun to wonder if she made a mistake in telling him no.

The Review:
So I will admit that I like this book. It's a really good modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I love the fact that Mrs. Bennet was trying to marry off her daughters just like in the original but unlike that one she is a lot more likable and funny. Jane was not waiting around for a man to come around and marry her, she was making something out of her life. That's not to say that she and Charles didn't have a brief relationship prior to the beginning of the book. However he dropped her when Will told him that she was a gold-digger (which she totally wasn't). Georgia (who is Georgiana in this story) runs off with Wickham in this story and Will has to go find her. Georgia becomes a stronger individual after Will finds her.

The only things that bothered me about this story is that the author renamed Elizabeth Eliza and the fact that it was too short. I would have loved to see what happened after they returned home after being in Vegas.

I'm eagerly awaiting book two in this series which is titled My Persuasion. Seriously Ms. James release it already.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars
