REVIEW: Mr. Darcy's Brides by April Floyd

Book Blurb: Mr. Darcy has no choice but to marry his cousin in this Jane Austen inspired Regency romance! But then there is Miss Elizabeth Bennet, the lady he truly loves. Can he manage the expectations of his mother and Lady Catherine or will there be one bride too many? Anne or Elizabeth, James or Fitzwilliam? Be there and see the sparks fly!

My Review: First of all this book reads like a bad soap opera. The characters in this book are all very out of character. Mr. Darcy would never agree to such a deception as this book portrays as disguise of every sort is his abhorrence. There are several things he could have done to make Elizabeth his bride other than this plan that was concocted. They could have gone to Gretna Green or just married secretly with a special license like Anne does. I understand wanting to get Anne away from her mother but damn.

I would have loved to have seen how Lizzy and Darcy fell in love instead of back story just saying they fell in love in Meryton. This book could have been better written with more story and less soap opera-ness. The only thing it has going for it is that it made me laugh at several parts.

Rating: ★★★☆☆
